This project began as fulfilment of requirement by a client of Teqzo Consulting, Bangalore who desired to create contemporary products depicting Indian heritage, to be sold to Indians staying abroad. The first product in this product line was to an iPhone case made out of famous Indian wood, with Indian artwork in it.
As a first step a thorough market research was done to determine what the competitors are currently making and identify the major pain points in them. This lead to a deisgn brief of making a slim, unibody iPhone case out Rosewood (famous red coloured wood) from Mysore. To ensure the phone stayed slim and still held on the the iPhone securely, a unique solution in the form of using micro-suction pad was developed.
It was soon realised that wood was not an easy material too work with, especially when the product needs to be both slim and precise.
This however did not stop us from persistently look for smarter ways to look for solutions until the desired outcome was achieved.
Even after completion, there were several unexpected difficulties that arose that prevented the product from coming to the market. It was however one the greatest learning experiences for me.
